"Pilgrim" captures a dancer in the midnight hour, where the empty street is his stage, and the cars are his audience. Andrew Bird's "Pulaski at Night" was discovered after filming and became the backdrop where the dance and song intertwined in the editing process. The film was titled "Pilgrim" in homage to the dancer's own pilgrimage from California to Chicago, as well as a regard to the church bus parallel to the dancer throughout the film.
